The first thing we did was check the oils and fluids. As suspected there was no oil in various components, or the oil had been replaced with water (a less than suitable fluid).
Welded between the front chassis rails was a large piece of angle iron, which was in place as the rust in the front chassis cross member wasn’t up to it.
We cut that out, and the front cross member, replaced it with a spare one we’d been given. That had to be modified with a step in it to accomodate the radiator, which because of the holden motor was mounted further forward.
We boxed up the front chassis section, added an A-Frame (my son Turoa, isn’t old enough to drive on the road) and it was ready for its first trip.
