The day we took the Rover along to the Autocross, I had three of my kids with me, Miria who is 16, Turoa, 14 and Henare who turned 12 last month. The minimum age to compete is 12 and Henare had just turned 12 by a matter of days … couldn’t believe his luck when he could compete.
I took him for a slow practice lap first, taught him how the layout of the track and how many times he needed to go around each time.
I thought it might have been confusing for him (it was for me the first time) but he handled it fine. Drove really well, kept on the track (unlike his brother and sister) and was getting better each time he went out.
Unfortunately we had a technical problem with the Rover that the pits weren’t able to fix, our electric seat refused to go back and forwards. Fortunately one of the guys from the club lent us his two door Accord for Henare to finish in .. thanks Kerry.
