While I owned a Tanner bandsaw, it really was too fast for cutting metal. My horizontal bandsaw cut metal fine, its small sheetmetal table for conversion to a vertical bandsaw was too flimsy.
I tried replacing the single phase motor witn a 3 phase motor with VFD, it really wasn’t powerful enough.
On Trademe I found a Luxo 400X metal cutting bandsaw. It has a 1.5kw 3 phase motor. The blade speed runs from 80 to 30 m/min. Unfortunately the blade welder had been removed, although the transformer was still in place.
This is a well built Japanese machine using heavy gauge sheet metal and a mechanical system for altering blade speed.
