We got the Fiat home and it was pretty well stripped. So .. out came the motor, I welded on some brackets onto the bumper supports, attached the landrover A-frame and towed it up to the local sandblasters.
I went to speak to the guy who gruffly said “we don’t do cars here … what sort of car?” I replied “Valiant Charger” .. “oh we do those” he said.
The next task was to convince him that the Fiat was a worthy practice run for the Charger, and I picked it up at the end of the day. He used a low pressure sand blaster which didn’t seem to ripple the bonnet, although my panelbeater said that the bonnet wasn’t too good .. hard to say it was because of the sandblasting .. anyway .. thanks Marty .. it looked great.
Once home I sprayed it with a single pack etch primer, then later another primer, a top coat followed by clear. It wasn’t the greatest job, I forgot to check the air pressure to the gun and it was a little high, as well I think I need a better moisture trap. Still heaps better than before. The colour is the new Ford XR6/XR8 Rapide which I did in Dulon, cause its cheaper and nowhere as nasty as the two pack stuff.
