We brought a Rover Sterling off Trade Me for $110 and stripped it down, taking out all of the interior and leaving just the driver seat.
This sure was a luxury car, even with rear electric seats and several hundred kilograms of sound deadener. It was built like a bomb shelter and has the sweetest running Honda 2.5 V6, although it had an auto attached to it and leaked a bit of water.
The Autocross was held by the Kapiti car club in Paraparaumu and it went well on the day, tire pressures being important to stop the back hanging out so much. Unfortunately we discovered the next day that if you put it into “2” instead of drive, it only selects second gear, and all day .. we never got into first !! Still it went well, came 10th out of 30 and still was faster than all except one, of the rear wheel drives.
